There are certain books that can be assumed to have circulated in al-Andalus only through their presence among “minority” communities such as the Mudejars and Moriscos, and the evidence provided by translations from Arabic into other languages. Al-Bakrī’s Kitāb al-anwār is one such book. In this paper, the reasons for the silence of the Arabic literary sources are explored.
